Severe Weather possible Wednesday in Midwestern Ontario

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, advising of the potential for severe thunderstorms in Midwestern Ontario Wednesday afternoon and evening.

The national weather agency said thunderstorms are expected to develop over eastern Michigan or Lake Huron Wednesday afternoon, then track eastward through the evening.

Damaging wind gusts are said to be the main threat, though large hail and a few tornadoes are also possible. Environment Canada said a significant tornado cannot be ruled out.

The threat of severe weather should decrease as storms move east Wednesday evening.

Residents are reminded to always have a severe weather safety plan in place.

Ensure you have a reliable source to receive weather alerts and that you have multiple ways to receive warnings, and consider altering outdoor activities.

A heat warning was also in place as of Monday afternoon, with hot and humid conditions possible through Saturday.
