The Stratford Festival’s 2022 season launches officially this week with the openings of three productions, Hamlet, Chicago and Richard III.

After a smaller, mostly outdoor season in 2021, the Festival celebrates its 70th season this year with a return to full programming in its four theatres.

As the 2020 season had to be cancelled as a result of the pandemic, audiences are once again able to return in large numbers.

The beginning of the 2022 season will be celebrated this evening, at the Festival Theatre at 55 Queen Street.

At 6:30 p.m. Stratford Police Pipes and Drums will parade to the Festival Theatre, where VIPs will begin walking on the Red Carpet at about 645pm.

AT 7:30 p.m. they will enjoy the Opening performance of Hamlet

On Friday, June 3, The Red Carpet event begins at 7:15 p.m. at Festival Theatre, with the opening performance of Chicago at 8:00 p.m

The opening performance of Richard III  at Tom Patterson Theatre, 111 Lakeside Drive, will start with the Red Carpet at 7:15 p.m. and showtime is 8:00 p.m.

Then at 11:10 p.m., there will be a Celebration of Light drone show over the Avon River.

On Sunday, June 5,  the Pride Toast will be held at the Tom Patterson Theatre at 11 a.m.

Then at 1 p.m. the Perth County Pride March begins at the Tom Patterson Theatre.
