Charges laid in hold-up at east London store

A London man has been arrested concerning a robbery at a department store in Argyle.

At around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called about a robbery in progress at a business located at 300 Clarke Road.

According to police, the male suspect produced a knife and made threats towards staff before escaping on foot with stolen merchandise.

Not long after the incident, officers located the man in the parking lot. No one was hurt during the ordeal.

A search of the man turned up a knife and stolen property police say.

Police charged the 36-year-old London man with one count of robbery with violence or threats.

He appeared in court on Friday about the charge.
