Lobb says Prime Minister is “out of step” with what Canadians want

The Member of Parliament for Huron-Bruce says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is “out of step” with what Canadians want.

Ben Lobb confirms he voted no on affirming the Emergencies Act earlier this week, also taking time to describe what he witnessed personally outside of Parliament over the last several weeks.

Lobb said “I walked up and down Wellington to see (for myself). There was never a clear and present danger, but it was an illegal blockade. Ottawa needs to do an inquiry and find out where leadership made huge mistakes.”

In 2010, G20 Summit Protests in Toronto saw over 1,100 arrests, more then the occupation of Ottawa so far, but the Emergencies Act was not utilized during that incident. Lobb says Ottawa knew the truckers were coming for weeks, but still took almost no pre-emptive actions, including finding a designated area for the truckers to occupy, which could have stopped the group from cutting off major city arteries for weeks.

Moving forward, Lobb says he is also in favor of a new public health strategy, saying “Instead of having a public plan to prevent people from getting COVID, we need to instead have a health policy for learning to live with COVID. A great number of Canadians have been triple-vaccinated, and it’s time to move forward and reunite this country. We are very divided, more now compared to any time I’ve been involved with politics. We need to unite, and move forward as one.”

On the Prime Minister, Lobb says he’s disappointed how the entire situation turned out. He says the vaccine mandates are very confusing, and his office gets a lot of calls from residents seeking clarity on crossing the border, saying “Prime Minister Trudeau is out of step with what Canadians are wanting. We need to move forward.”
