No one hurt in crash involving transport on Highway 402

A crash that left a tractor trailer and a pickup truck in the median on Highway 402 southwest of London caused major delays during the morning commute on Thursday.

The two vehicles collided in the westbound lanes near Glendon Drive just before 7 a.m. Both came to rest in the snow covered median, the pickup on its roof.

“We are very fortunate that there are no serious injuries reported in this collision at all,” said OPP Acting Sergeant Ed Sanchuk.

The crash kept the east and westbound fast lanes closed until after 10 a.m. while crews worked to remove the transport and clear debris.

A second crash involving a jackknifed transport also posed a problem for drivers on the 402 east of Nauvoo Road Thursday morning. No one was injured in that collision, but the eastbound lanes were temporarily closed for the removal of the big rig, OPP said.

Slick road conditions were reported across the region throughout the morning as light flurries fell across southwestern Ontario.
