Saugeen Shores Police are investigating the theft of cremated remains.

Sometime overnight Monday, someone broke into T.A Brown Funeral Home on Mill Street in Port Elgin.

Two cardboard boxes containing cremated remains were taken.

Police say the suspect may not have known what was in the boxes and may have discarded the containers once they found out.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service is appealing to the public, especially those who reside in the area, to check their properties for the missing containers.

The cremated remains were in two white cardboard boxes with a black container inside.

Both affected families have been notified.

Any witnesses are being asked to call the Saugeen Shores Police Service at 519-832-2500 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
