Pedestrian hit by vehicle in east London

A pedestrian is in hospital after being hit by a vehicle in east London late Sunday night.

The woman was walking in the area of Highbury Avenue and Brydges Street around 11:50 p.m. when she was struck.

Emergency crews were called and the woman was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Police have not yet indicated whether the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene.

The roadway was closed for several hours while the police traffic management unit investigated. It has since been reopened.
