Kincardine, companies donate to hatchery after a loss of fish

The Municipality of Kincardine, a contractor and a consultant are each putting $2,000 towards the brown trout hatchery in the community after 10,000 fish were lost.

A release from the municipality states the Lake Huron Fishing Club lost fish from its Kincardine brown trout hatchery after a watermain was struck during construction along Huron Terrace on October 15.

Adam Weishar is the Director of Infrastructure and Development with the Municipality of Kincardine.

In the release he states “the watermain was not mapped and therefore was untraceable, which caused a loss of water supply for a period of time. The main was repaired and water supply restored but unfortunately fish were lost during this time.”

Municipal officials met with members of the hatchery this week to extend their apologies and identify ways to support the Lake Huron Fishing Club for the loss of fish and for additional efforts to address the clean up.
