Charges have been laid against a London man accused of crashing into a police cruiser with a stolen pickup truck.
A black pickup was reported stolen from a home on Boler Road around 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday. The driver allegedly hit the back of a parked vehicle while taking off from the area.
Police spotted the stolen truck roughly three hours later on Pauline Crescent. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it sped away, driving over the front lawn of a nearby home.
The pickup was located again a short time later on Poplar Crescent. In a second attempt to get away from officers, the pickup reportedly crashed into a police cruiser. The driver then refused to get out of the stolen vehicle, forcing officers to get in through a window.
The suspect was arrested without further incident. No injuries were reported.
Stolen cheques and drug paraphernalia was seized.
A 29-year-old London man is charged with resisting arrest, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, failure to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, failure to stop at the scene of a crash, and possession of drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
