If you are looking for a way to help Ukrainians fleeing the war in their country, and you collect Aeroplan points, you might consider donating them.
The federal government has teamed up with Miles4Migrants, The Shapiro Foundation, and Air Canada to create a new plan to help Ukrainians with the cost of travel. It’s called Ukraine2Canada Travel Fund.
Canadians and companies can donate their Aeroplan points to the fund through Air Canada and Miles4Migrants. The Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto is collecting cash donations.
The federal government hopes to relocate 10,000 Ukrainians and their families.
The Shapiro Foundation will match donations up to 50-million points, and Air Canada has already pitched in 100-million.
The program is open to Ukrainian nationals and their families approved for travel to Canada. The federal government plans to tell eligible Ukrainians how they can apply for assistance in the coming weeks.
