The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) is looking into online fraud.
“A female posing to work for an investment company in the United States had the victim send over $30,000 worth of Bitcoin to be invested,” STPS said in a statement.
Police said that the victim, a St. Thomas resident, realized that they were being scammed when the investor continually asked for more money.
The investigation is ongoing.
