We started to gather around 10 a.m., though a few had come earlier for the better seats. We sat around in little clumps, couples mainly, until the number of arrivers overwhelmed the desire for privacy as more of those invited to this small gathering wandered into the circle. Circle might be an odd word for this gathering of sorrowful humans outside a red brick apartment building that had been the elementary school that many here would have attended.
