The Premier claims Ontario’s “future is bright”

Premier Doug Ford said Ontario’s “future is bright” and its “best days are still ahead.”

In a statement released to mark the new year, Ford vowed his government “will never stop working for workers” and touted a number of initiatives including investing in the skilled trades and helping newcomers contribute to the economy.

However, Ford did admit that inflation continues to be an issue and said his government is “taking concrete action to put more money” back in people’s pockets. He said that included eliminating license sticker fees, removing tolls from Highways 412 and 413 and extending gas and fuel tax cuts. Ford says his government is committed to building an economy that “can weather any storm.”

Ford also maintained his government is investing in healthcare despite criticism over the decision to appeal Bill 124 — the bill that caps public sector wage increases at just one per cent. In his statement, Ford said his government is hiring thousands more nurses, doctors, and personal support workers.
