Youth in Action grants now available from United Way

United Way Perth Huron is now accepting applications for their Youth in Action Grants.

United Way Director of Governance and Community Impact, Megan Partridge, says successful applicants can receive up to $1000 towards a project or program that they want to lead.

“These grants are available for youth or youth groups between 14 and 24. We want them to lead projects that are going to help benefit their community and support youth development in the region and there’s lots of great ideas that we see every year,” Partridge says.

The United Way’s Youth in Action program is over ten years old now, but they missed a couple of years because of the pandemic, so Partridge says they’re very happy to be back this year. She adds youth are very important when it comes to mapping out society’s future.

“They are our leaders of tomorrow and sometimes we don’t give youth enough credit. They have amazing ideas and what I’ve seen youth be able to do with a thousand dollars over the past number of years is heart warming and it’s amazing,” adds Partridge.

Partridge notes it’s also amazing how one person and group can inspire other people to get involved, so the reach of a thousand dollars can be quite surprising. More information about the Youth in Action Grant program and how to apply can be found on the United Way Perth Huron website.
