While it won’t have the same features as a regular store, IKEA Canada has announced it will open a Design Studio location in London sometime in late October or early November.
According to the company, IKEA Design Studio stores offer one-on-one consultations by appointment for kitchen design, bedroom projects and other small space living solutions.
The temporary store will be open only for 12 to 18 months inside of CF Masonville Place. Shoppers will be able to order IKEA goods from the store and have them delivered to their homes or the nearby pick-up location located on 1040 Wharncliffe Road South.
IKEA products or food will not be available for takeaway, but the store will have a small selection of product samples on display.
“Our ambition is to become more accessible to Ontario residents by bringing IKEA closer to them and offering new, convenient services that meet the evolving demands of our lives at home,” said Toronto-area Manager Niclas Karlsson-Järnkrok.
The first Design Studio location opened in Oshawa on September 1, and the stores have since expanded to other areas, including Brampton and St. Catharines.
In 2017, IKEA announced plans to build a full-sized store in south London. Residents were disappointed last year when the furniture company cancelled the project, citing a “rapidly changing retail environment” as the reason why the location would be delayed indefinitely.
