‘This is not safe’: twine used to fasten seatbelt

Provincial police in Norfolk County are shaking their heads after discovering a driver’s inventive way of keeping their seatbelt fastened.

OPP pulled the vehicle over on an unrelated matter on Monday night. Officers soon realized the driver’s seatbelt was held together with bailer twine and a metal hook.

“All I can say is wow,” OPP said in a tweet with a photo of the rigged seatbelt. “This is not safe and will not save your life if you are involved in a collision.”

There is no word on whether charges were laid.
