Golf tournament raises money for HCFBDC

The Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre, hosted their 1st annual Golf Tournament at the White Squirrel Golf Course Friday.

A media release says that what began as a desire to raise funds to cover the cost of a food delivery truck repair, grew into a one-of-a-kind event to help support those who need food in the Huron / Perth regions.

41 golfers competed under sunny fall skies, raising over $15,000.

This is the first formal fundraising activity for newly formed fundraising committee of the HCFDC Board.

The HCFBDC provides food to 9 food banks as well as over 15 aid agencies in Huron and Perth counties. HCFBDC also operates a Mobile Food Bank program in 4 communities in Huron County.

Having a truck in good working order is essential to picking up fresh produce, delivering to local food banks and operating the Mobile Food Banks.
