Charges laid in suspicious fire

A 34-year-old man is now charged in connection with a fire that caused hundreds of thousand of dollars in damage.

The London Fire Department was called to a residence on Waterloo Street near Simcoe Street around 6:30 p.m. on September 22. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. But the blaze did an estimated $600,000 dollars in damage to two residences.

Police announced on Wednesday that they had arrested a suspect.

A 34-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with one count of arson with disregard for human life and one count of arson causing damage to property.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident, is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
