PRWIN’S Environmental
Award of Merit

David Grant, PRWIN Chairperson, presented our 2020 Award of Merits to our community members. The following recipients gave their time, their land or place of work, and support to help complete projects in our watershed. The presentation took place at Lewis Park on September 15th.

PRWIN Community Member Tyson and Angela Devitt

Tyson & Angela Devitt are landowners in Huron Township. They have been generous to take on our in ground projects and to support our mandate. This year, PRWIN installed two new water and sediment control basins also known as “berms” to control runoff on the Devitt’s farmland. Also, they have contributed in-kind hours to the project. We appreciate Tyson and Angela’s continued support to allow us to deliver our programing to the community. 

PRWIN Community Member Tryntje Eisen

PRWIN is honoured to have Tryntje Eisen as a recipient of our Award of Merit. She is a member of the Ripley Horticultural Society and leads the Ripley Youth Horticultural Club. Tryntje has created many volunteer partnerships with our community and her creativity has developed outreach programs for our youth. She expanded our “McLarty Centre” into pursuing many rewarding activities for children. We would like to recognize her leadership skills and kindness.

PRWIN Community Member Michelle Liddle

Michelle Liddle is another member who quietly helps anchor our group. Michelle is a resident of Huron Township and is the owner of Ripley Variety/Queen Street Eats. She is multi-talented and has great work ethic, to provide a variety store in our village.  Also, Michelle wears many community hats, as she volunteers and offers to help out with community activities, sports and events. She can always be counted on to help us host our tree planting events and in ground projects, by providing meals to our volunteers and board of directors.
We appreciate Michelle’s continued support and efforts to make our program successful in our community. 
 
 
 

2020 POTTED TREE ASH REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

Our PRWIN directors and community volunteers pose at Smeltzer’s Garden Centre, as they pick up our trees for our 2020 Potted Tree Ash Replacement Program. We had 30 recipients receive a tree, courtesy of our program. We appreciate our directors’ time, organization and delivery of the trees to our shoreline residence. Thank you to our community volunteers for assisting us with our deliveries. A special thank you to Smeltzer’s Garden Centre for ordering the trees, as well as NWMO and the Community Well Being Program, for supporting our 2020 fall tree program.

RED MAPLES PLANTED IN MEMORY OF DON CASS 

PRWIN was fortunate to receive donations in memory of Don Cass, who was a past director of PRWIN. Don brought many volunteer hours to our organization and had great leadership and dedication to our watershed. To acknowledge these contributions, PRWIN planted a red maple tree at the Bruce Beach Golf Course with family members of Don Cass. Also, a red maple tree was planted at the Ripley Huron Community School Outdoor Green Space. It truly shows how he was well respected in our community.
