This fall, two long serving PRWIN directors retired from our board. 
Gord Cale and Murray Ferguson were celebrated at our November meeting. These gentlemen served our organization and contributed valuable expertise to our non profit group.
 
David Grant, chairman of the Pine River Watershed Initiative presented certificates to recognize their dedication and support to PRWIN. 

We wish them good health and happiness with their retirement.

Due to Covid restrictions, all 2020 personal orders were declined until Spring of 2021. The varieties of seedlings available for 2021 are : White cedar, white and norway spruce, red pine, tamarack, silver maple, red and white oak, black walnut and white birch. The seedlings will be packaged in bundles of 10 seedlings.

Please note that you will be responsible for picking up and planting the seedlings. If any seedlings are not picked up, they will be given to a participant on the waiting list. All participants will be given notice in late April informing them of our seedling pickup location.

PRWIN 2020 HIGHLIGHTS 

2020 was a challenging year in so many ways. Now that 2021 is here, we can look back at our accomplishments of 2020:

• We planted four reforestation sites located in Huron Kinloss.
• Two berms installed to control runoff on 80 acres of farmland.
• In the spring of 2020, we planted over 6,000 cedars and spruce seedlings to reforest 4.5 acres at our Tree Planting Day with OPG.
• PRWIN assisted OPG with their Environmental Certificate.
• We presented Award of Merits to our community members: Michelle Liddle, Trynjte Eisen &Tyson and Angela Devitt.
• PRWIN directors developed our PRWIN Project Inventory to document PRWIN’s in ground and tree planting projects.
• We created an Action Plan in partnership with Healthy Lake Huron.
• PRWIN created a video to exhibit our watershed and to support our mandate.
• We helped Point Clark Beach Association to set up a tree planting day to plant trees in the parks.
• PRWIN planted trees at the Forging Forest at the Botanical Garden.
• We replaced a Hicks Yew at Lewis Park.
• Planted trees with donations received in memory of Don Cass at Bruce Beach Golf Course and Ripley Huron Community School.
• PRWIN contributed to the SVCA “Piece of the Puzzle” to showcase our watershed.
• This spring, PRWIN collected leaf samples to monitor the cycle and progression of growth for a local landowner.
• This fall, our 2020 Potted Tree Ash Replacement Program offered shoreline residents over 30 potted trees.
